My favorite ritual for six years

What is oil pulling?

Oil pulling is a traditional practice from Ayurveda: you swish a spoonful of oil around your mouth for a few minutes and then spit it out. RINGANA’s Tooth Oil makes it easy. It’s a sesame-oil-based formula with mint, eucalyptus, turmeric and manuka oil, and it was launched back in 2003, long before oil pulling became a trend.

How to use it, step by step

1. Shake the bottle well.
2. Swish about one teaspoon around your mouth and pull it between your teeth with your tongue. RINGANA recommends 5–20 minutes.
3. Spit it out, ideally into the trash, not the sink, because oil can clog pipes over time.
4. Brush your teeth and tongue with a damp toothbrush, then rinse with water.

My tip: do it while you shower or get ready, and the minutes fly by.
